Dar Aldawa Supports Healthcare Professionals with Interpretation

Pharmaceutical company Dar Aldawa was hosting its first webinar for health professionals on COVID-19. They wanted to reach both French and English speakers with simultaneous interpreting.

Project Scope

ITC Global was hired to provide remote simultaneous interpretation in English and French for the two-hour webinar. During the first hour, speakers presented scientific data and the second hour was reserved for questions and responses. The event featured four main speakers: three Algerian medical professors who spoke French and one Italian medial professor who spoke English.

Project Process

Dar Aldawa wanted to use Zoom as their video conferencing tool and ITC confirmed that it was a suitable choice due to the platform’s interpretation plugin for multiple language channels. The technology was tested in advance with the interpreters to resolve any technical issues.

ITC selected expert interpreters with experience in the topic and industry from our large network of interpreters. Interpreting for a conference, particularly in a very specialized field, requires lots of concentration and energy. For a two-hour project, two interpreters were required and they took turns every 30 minutes.

ITC provided Dar Aldawa with the interpreters’ resumes so the client could verify their expertise in the field. The client shared a presentation in advance, which helped the interpreters prepare and create a glossary of technical terms.

Results

The webinar was very successful and the client is planning more events like this. The right technology, expert interpreters, and thorough preparation were the keys to a smooth event.
