Pet Food Client Boosts International Exports with Translation

This client is a well-known Canadian, family-owned dog and cat food manufacturer with distributors and retailers in 36 countries. To support their international expansion, they need to translate product descriptions and labels into many languages, including some less common ones. Let’s review one of the recent projects in our ongoing collaboration to see how the process works.

Project Scope

This project involved translating product descriptions and then proofreading the final labels after layout and design, a process called linguistic sign-off (LSO). Each description was 200 words and needed to be translated into 29 languages within seven business days.

Project Process

ITC Global put together a dedicated team and set up an internal management system to handle the numerous translators across different continents. We identified the most suitable translators for each target language and field of activity. The project managers prepared instructions and coordinated between translators and the client when the linguists had questions.

Finishing Touches

To make sure the project met our client’s expectations, our project managers performed final quality control checks. They also created a custom translation memory for the company so future translations would be consistent and more cost-effective.

The project was a success, with high-quality translations delivered on time despite the short timeline. The client was able to provide their distributors and retailers with the necessary information about their products in their own language, helping them expand their international presence.
