Let’s look at one of TTI Ryobi’s many video localization projects to illustrate our partnership and how we successfully fulfilled their objectives.
To promote its new U.S. product in Europe, the company chose to adapt two three-minute promotional videos featuring the new RM480E electric lawnmower for their French distributors. These videos were initially filmed in the U.S. with English narration and text.
The first step in the localization process was transcription. Then we translated this transcription and prepared to align it with the video.
However, the French text was 30% longer due to natural expansion, which would have made it difficult for a voice actor to deliver effectively. So, we adapted the script to match the timecodes, with a focus on conveying the main message and using the right technical terms. Then we added the timecodes needed to record the voiceover.
The client was looking for a calm male voice that was engaging enough to convey promotional messages in voiceover. We carefully selected a voice actor who could deliver dynamic and persuasive intonation despite the large volume of text, then provided artistic direction remotely during recording.
Finally, we added translated on-screen text and completed audio and video mixing in postproduction to create the final videos.
